Sod Staples
Staples are used to keep sod and seed blankets in place when installed on slopes or hillsides. Staples are also used to hold seed blankets in place at windy locations. Staples are made of 11 gauge steel 6’x1”x6” and sold in boxes of 1000 and also 50 in bags. Additional lengths available with minimal lead time.

Provides exceptional broadleaf weed control – fast. In university and cooperator tests SpeedZone applications have repeatedly controlled tough weeds like clover, plantain, ground ivy and spurge with a fast-acting cool-weather response exhibiting injury within hours. Speed Zone contains an advanced chemistry for broadleaf weed control in turf. The mode of action inhibits a key enzyme in chlorophyll production. Straw Blanket SS-2, SS-2 Rapid Grow, SS-2 All Natural
Western Excelsior’s Excel SS-2 Erosion Control Blanket (ECB) consists of a 100% certified weed free straw matrix stitched between two nets (top and bottom). Excel SS-2 is available with photodegradable, synthetic netting (Regular); rapid photodegradable, synthetic netting (Rapid-Go) or all natural, biodegradable netting (All Natural). The Excel SS-2 ECB provides erosion control for a period of up to twelve months (45 – 90 days as Rapid Go style) and serves as a mulching layer. Actual longevity is dependent on soil and climatic conditions. Available in a variety of roll sizes, Excel SS-2 provides reliable, economical erosion control ideal for low gradient/low risk slope and channel projects. Like all Western Excelsior products, Excel SS-2 is made in the USA and yields LEED credits for the end user.

Straw Coconut Blanket CS-3
Western Excelsior’s Excel CS-3 Erosion Control Blanket (ECB) consists of a blended matrix of coconut fibers and straw. The matrix is composed of 30% coconut fibers and 70% certified weed free straw and is stitched between two nets. Excel CS-3 is available with photodegradable, synthetic (Regular) or biodegradable (All Natural) netting. The Excel CS-3 ECB provides erosion control for a period of up to twenty-four months and serves as a mulching layer. Actual longevity depends on soil and climatic conditions. Available in a variety of roll sizes, Excel CS-3 provides reliable, economical erosion control, ideal for slope projects that would benefit from longer lasting erosion protection and improved mulching. Excel CS-3 is also recommended as a degradable liner for channel projects. Like all Western Excelsior products, Excel CS-3 is made in the USA and yields LEED credits for the end user.

Straw Wattles
Straw Wattles provide sediment control and inlet protection. Utilizing 100% agricultural, weed free straw, Straw Wattles are available in a variety of diameters and lengths. Straw Wattles are intended to be utilized on slopes to minimize displacement of in-situ sediments; in channels as small check dams and to restrict sediment laden flow from inlets.
Sun and Shade Mix
Sun and Shade mix is our top seller in the northern market. Consisting of 40% of two Perennial Ryes, 15% Creeping Fescue, 15 % Chewings Fescue and 30% Kentucky Bluegrass makes this blend very versatile for lawns consisting of various amounts of shade and sun. This mix germinates in 7-14 days. Application rates for new seeding is 8-10 lbs per 1000 square feet for new seeding and 3-5lbs for over seeding. Stocked in Streetsboro.
Sunny Mix
Sunny mix is for those who want the dark color and durability of a mix with 70% of three varieties of Kentucky Bluegrass and 30% of two varieties of Perennial Rye that is disease resistant. Sunny mix is great for home owners as well as businesses wanting to impress. This mix germinates in 7-14 days. Application rates for new seeding is 4-6 lbs for new seeding and 2-4 lbs for over seeding. Stocked in Streetsboro.
Surge
Surge® Broadleaf Herbicide for Turf provides an amine option for FAST weed control in warmer weather. University data and cooperator tests have demonstrated consistently enhanced speed compared to other water-based amine weed control products. Surge provides outstanding control of spurge and other warm-weather weeds. Additionally, Surge provides suppression of young and actively growing yellow nutsedge.
